 Easy Home Decorating

                                                  Create your "Dream Home!"

Want some free easy home decorating advice?

Start with your main bedroom.

Notice that I didn't use the antiquated label "master bedroom," which indicates control, domination, and inequality.

Decorating your bedroom first makes you feel important. So many home decorators start with their children's  bedrooms and never make it to their own room!

This red bedroom was painted with "oops" paint from ReStore, Habitat for Humanity's thrift store.

Although you should consider your entire home design plan, you can shut your door to your own bedroom and make it "off limits." This adds a sense of mystery to your home. Therefore, you can take bold decorating steps and create a personal sanctuary just for you and anyone you care to invite.

Romantic Bedroom Decorating

For a romantic retreat, consider tropical, French, or Victorian decor. Tropical plants, bamboo, and exotic floral prints suggest faraway vacations. French bedrooms emphasize luscious fabrics which feel luscious and luxurious. Victorian feminine floral patterns, crystal decanters and chandeliers also bring a romantic feeling.

You can create a romantic retreat without all the frills just by playing with lighting, colors, patterns, and textures.

Personal Retreat Bedroom Decorating

A personal sanctuary bedroom needs to support your favorite activities. Think about what you love to do in your bedroom. If you love to read in bed, plan for lighting and a bookcase. If you love to watch old movies, your lighting needs differ and your furniture arrangement would consider the best position for your TV.

Easy Home Decorating Plan

No matter your home style, you need to make a design plan for your entire home. If you choose to start with your main bedroom, you can plan colors used in your other rooms. However, you can experiment in your bedroom, go a little wild, and discover your true decorating style!

If you're lucky enough to have a patio retreat off your bedroom, remember to decorate this special space, too.
Colorful Mexican blanket invites you to sit in warmth after the sun goes down. The throw also brings texture into the patio, which has all hard surfaces.
