My Dog Is a Double-Wide Dog

By Jeanette Joy Fisher

My dog should have been a double-wide dog. Walter is a good ol' boy. Walter would be perfect in the back of Trace Atkins' pick-up truck in the Country Music video, "Rough 'n Ready" or stretched out in the mud under Gretchen Wilson's dancing feet in "Red-Neck Woman."

We didn't select this big old dog who looks like a Rottweiler and acts like a Labrador. Someone left him locked in our barn one night. When we took him to the vet, we discovered that he had a bullet in his side.

Walter looks like he lives at the end of a dirt road in a double-wide. Actually, he does live at the end of a dirt road because we live in a country setting on almost five acres. It would be impossible to pave all the dirt or to water that much grass -- if we did put a lawn in.

Now, don't get me wrong, even though I didn't pick him, I love Walter.

You see, the problem is that we don't live in a double-wide at the end of a dirt road; we live in a lake lodge at the end of a dirt road--where County Music TV blasts all day long for our daughter Sara.

The problem is--I do care if our floors get dirty. If fact, we used to have a "no shoes" policy.

Walter likes to roll in the dirt. He loves to get wet first.

I am tired of sweeping and mopping floors. Does anyone know of a vacuum cleaner for dogs?  Contact Jeanette
